Port Angeles, WA, USA — May 18, 2006. Ten months after release of the first version, Fontlab Ltd. announced today the release of FogLamp 2, an upgrade of the conversion utility for Fontographer users.
FogLamp converts Fontographer font source files (.fog databases) into FontLab-compatible .vfb files. The easy drag-and-drop batch conversion process retains all relevant elements of the .fog file including outlines, template/mask, bitmaps, hints, font naming and other font header information. The new version fixes a number of bugs and adds the capability of direct conversion into the OpenType TT (.ttf) and OpenType PS (.otf) font formats.
“FogLamp 2 is a significant step up in functionality from the original version,” said Ted Harrison, president of Fontlab Ltd. “With FogLamp 2, Fontographer users can use their old project files or create new ones; design type in their familiar environment; and export OpenType fonts without having to go through any other intermediaries,” said Harrison.
FogLamp 2 retails at US$79 and is available in attractively-priced bundles such as the Fontographer “Power Pack”, which is a new integrated OpenType font making solution, encompassing Fontographer, FogLamp and TransType Pro. Upgrades from FogLamp 1 are available for US$19.95. All products from Fontlab Ltd. carry a 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
